Antibacterial clothes and fibers

Nanosilver technology and its application in textile industry is one of related industries to people health in all age and social groups .nanosilver is one of nanotechnology products with high utility, that is known for its antimicrobial properties, it can remove more than 650 bacteria, virus and fungi species as a catalyst, besides, it doesn’t cause any allergy.

By using nanosilver ,textile will be given some special properties that lead to improve utility and decrease final cost rather than common methods for antibacterializing textile. nanosilver in comparison with other antimicrobial methods (like using chemical materials) has more durability and efficiency and there is no need to any other special equipment during common process of textile industry.

Nanosilver can be used in many particular applications like clothing utilized in hygiene, sport, military industries, moreover, because of capability of removing micro-organisms adding nanosilver to products is becoming a distinction.

One of the characteristics of Nanocid products is their application in  fibers and clothes, and when they are produced in this way, have the following special ties:

  •  Antibacterial, antifungal-antivirus

  •  Decreasing unpleasant odor

  •  Anti static

  •  Keeping skin biologic balance and hygienic succulence of products during sport activities.

  •  Stability of above characteristics, even after 10 times washing.

applications:

  •  usual clothing ( under wear , shirt, T-shirt, overalls, socks, gloves, towel, child cloths)

  •  medical textile ( hygiene textile, bandage and wound dressings, gown and lab or surgery room covers)

  •  military textile ( clothing , tent and pavilion…)

  •  sports clothing ( sky clothing, swimsuit…)

  •  domestic and bedight textile ( carpet, furniture, curtain, tablecloth…)

  •  all filters, (air filters, cooler filter, mask, water filteration,…)

  •  textile used in packaging industry

According to the above points, antibacterial fibers and clothes have a vast and various usages as the following:

  •  Yarn (artificial and natural yarn, delicate yarn, bi/poly component yarn, nanofiber…)

  •  Textile

  •  Non- woven textile ( possibility of using nanosilver in meltblown, spunbonded, …process)

  •  Clothing ( using clothing or hygiene, sport, military clothing)

  •  Bandage

  •  Carpet

  •  Polymer films

  •  filters

Utilizable percentage of nanosilver:

Dose of mixing depends on kind and final usage of goods, is determined case by case.

Consumption procedure:

In order to antibacterialize goods, according to the kind of goods and producing process of them, nanosilver can be used in suitable phase, it needn't extra equipments. Natural: yarn can be antibacterial before or after changing into textile, and about artificial yarn, nanosilver can be added to melted polymer in extruder or masterbatch containing nanosilver can be used. Adding nanosilver (based on nanotitan), beside antibacterialize yarn, increases (specific gravity) and it causes improving drap property.

In order to antibacterialize different textile including natural and artificial, according to production process, we can use padding, dip coating, spraying.

Blend textile, clothing, bandage and all textiles in general can be mixed in this way. In padding method, textile is passed through common machines in textile through nanosilver colloid dilution. with passing textile through nanosilver colloid,  nanosilver stands on the surface of yarn because of contact and some, depends on condition, may infiltrate into yarn.

In dip coating method, by diping textile in nanosilver colloid dilution , in temperature of more than 50 c , in special time, nanosilver particles infiltrate in yarn. Doing the procedure under pressure, causes to increase infiltration of nano particles in yarn, and its antibacterial property will be more permanent.

Distinctions of Nanosilver Products (Nanocid):

  • Antimicrobial (antibacterisl. antivirus, anti fungal) properties

  • Nontoxic Distinctions of nanocid

  • High proficiency even at low concentration

  • Appropriate stability after several lavation

  • Non allergic

  • Antistatic

  • Decreasing unpleasant adour

  • Keeping skin biologic balance and hygiene succulence of products during sport activities

  • Design and innovation of all patient clothes producing, specially diabetic patients

Note:

Because of variety production process and different performances of companies, it is not possible to determine one special method for all companies. The best stage and method is found out by negotiation with that company’s R&D.

process of antibacterializing :

The process of antibacterializing goods to do this according to the kind of goods and their production process, we can use nanosilver in an appropriate step.

We can choose one of the following methods:

1-Padding

In order to cause antimicrobial activities in natural and synthetic
textiles, depending on the production procedure, they can be padded. Period and temperature of the padding are effective in antimicrobial stability and performance.antimicrobial textile Padding Method
Mixed textiles, clothes, bandages and all kinds of different textiles can be completed by this method. By using this rocedures, as it is shown in the picture below, nanoparticles are equally distributed on the textile surface; therefore, antibacterial activities are similar in all parts of the textile.

2-Dip coating
In this method, by putting textiles in NANOCID colloidal solution in the temperature above 50 and pre-determined time, NANOCID particles settle on the fibers, or penetrate in them. Operating under pressure, increases nanoparticles' penetration in the fibers and stability of antimicrobial properties. In the case of finished products ,such as garment, socks, T-shirt,or any other final product, this method is applicable for antimicrobial purposes.

3-Sprayingspraying colloidal on the textile
In disposable textiles such as Bandage, Gauze, tissue or some of the nonwoven textiles which after several washing do not need antimicrobial stability, spraying colloidal solution with specified concentration , is both simple and efficient.

4-Mixing NANOCID powder In the spinning process, or using masterbatch
In order to cause antimicrobial activities in synthetic fibers (by the use of melt spinning) nanocid can be added to melted polymer in the extruder, or nanocid masterbatch can be used.
Not only adding nanocld (with Titan Base) to the fibers causes antimicrobial activities in the fibers, but also increases fabric specific gravity which leads to
improvement of fabric drape.using masterbatch and nanosilver composite
